Dornbirn miniguide
Dornbirn is a city located in the westernmost part of Austria , the country bordering Switzerland and Germany .In 2007 the population measured at nearly 46 000, making the city the largest in the state of Vorarlberg.Although there has been a community here for over 1000 years, did not Dornbirn city status until 1901.
Urban landscape is marked both by centuries-old buildings and modern architecture. A good way to get the views of the city is to take a trip up to the summit of Karren using a modern cable car. On top there is a restaurant with panoramic windows that go off the mountain. In addition to museums, there are opportunities for excursions to the Alps scenery. Dornbirn, Austria's largest textile town, and each year hosts textile fairs in the city.
The nearest airport is in Hohenems about 8 km south of Dornbirn and bears the name of Hohenems-Dornbirn Airport.
