Tuzla is located in the northeast corner of Bosnia-Herzegovina , nearly 75 km from Sarajevo .Tuzla is located not far from the eastern border with Yugoslavia and that's about as far to the Nordic border with Croatia .Tuzla is the third largest city in the country with a population of over 140 000 (2006). The name comes from the Turkish meaning of the word salt, and the town has been known salt sources for thousands of years.
Tourists are very interested in the Tuzla salt mines and Panonika Lake is an artificial lake with salt water in the center. As with other areas in Bosnia-Herzegovina Tuzla, a green and plant-rich city with many parks. Parts of the city and especially the old town was destroyed during the civil war in the early 1990's, but still it is a historic experience to visit the old town. Tuzla is characterized by many beautiful mosques in addition to an Orthodox church.
Tuzla International Airport is located in Dubrave about 30 miles north of Tuzla.
