Fiji is an island nation located in the Pacific - 2000 miles north of New Zealand .Fiji consists of 322 islands, where approx. 110 are inhabited. Fiji has 940,000 inhabitants (2009), and the archipelago is located east of Vanuatu, west of Tonga and south of Tuvalu. The two most important and largest islands are Viti Levu (main island) and Vanua Levu.
Tourism is the archipelago's main industry, and Fiji is primarily known for its many beautiful sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and excellent fishing and diving opportunities.
Fiji islands are mountainous, where the highest peak is Mount Tomanivi - located 1,323 m above sea level Otherwise, the landscape consists of tropical rain forests and grasslands. Fiji Islands has a tropical marine climate with over 23 degrees all year.
