Kajaani lies in Kainuu, rather in the middle of Finland (midway between the two large lakes Oulujärvi and Nuasjärvi).The town has approx. 38,000 inhabitants (2007), and was founded in 1651 around the fortress Kajaneborg (1604) - which is still Kaja Anis's most famous attraction.
