The coastal town of Salo is located in Finland's southwestern corner - specifically the landscape Varsinais-Suomi (Swedish: Actually League Finland ).The city, which has approx. 55,000 inhabitants, acquired city rights in 1960 - but had long been an urban settlement (Salo is first mentioned in written sources as early as 1325).
Salo is primarily known for its high-tech industry. Among other mobile phone manufacturer Nokia has its main factory here ..
Two cultural institutions have a central function in the city: The cultural KIVA (concerts, dance and theater) and Salo Art Museum - housed in a 100-year-old, restored locomotive numbers. In addition, the city has several museums.
Otherwise, Salo in an area with many natural wonders - and recreation area Meri-Teijo, located by the sea just outside the city, is a very popular destination. Why not try golf, fishing, rent a boat and paddle in a canoe or kayak.
The nearest airport is Turku (Åbo) Airport, 52 km west of Salo.
