Chambery is a city in eastern France , 45 miles north of Grenoble, and 13 kilometers south of Aix-les-Bains.Chambéry is the historic capital of the Savoie department. 56,000 residents live in the city, with 114,000 total suburbs.
Chambery described first in 1029 as Camberiacum. The town grew up around the castle Chateau de Chambery, which was founded in 1232 The castle was to guard the roads that connect Burgundy, Switzerland and Italy. The castle was expanded in the 1400s to become the residence of the family Savoie. Today there will be tours and concerts here. In 1860 Chambery under French domination.
