Martigues miniguide
Martigues is a town in southern France , 30 kilometers northwest of Marseille .Martigues is located in the department of Bouches-de-Rhone, at the end of the Canal de Caronte and the Mediterranean Sea. Approx. 44,000 residents live in the fishing port which is located in Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur.
The city has been nicknamed Venice of Provence's charm with canals and bridges. Martigues is an art museum, Musée Ziem, with paintings and sculptures. The city also has a historical museum, Galerie de l'Histoire de Martigues, and an archaeological museum, musée archéologique Showcases. Visitors can join guided tours at sea in Le parc marine, where you learn more about sea life and the importance of protecting marine life. Visitors can also participate in activities such as rowing, horseback riding in Saint Pierre les Martiqus, not to mention water sports activities such as fishing, kayaking, sailing, water skiing and kiteing to name a few. The city has its own wine: Coteaux d'Aix en Provence.
