Böblingen is located in the German state of Baden-Wurttemberg - in southwestern Germany - and has 46,500 inhabitants (2008).The city is situated on two lakes and is known for its high-tech industry - as well as the beautiful wavy landscape of hills and meadows.
The city was founded in 1253, and is rich in history, culture and architecture. The most famous landmark in Böblingen is St. Dionysius Church, located on the marketplace. The church was originally from the 1400s, but was destroyed by a bomb attack in 1943. St. Dionysius Church, however, was rebuilt in 1950.
Other city sights include City Hall from 1952, Vogt House from 1570, Water Tower (31 meters) from 1928 - where the observation deck is open to the public, War Museum, with exhibition of pewter figurines, City Gallery - an exhibition of artwork from the Stuttgart region and Butcher Museum "Fleischer Deutsche Museum".
The city park in Böblingen is a great recreation area, and in the center, visitors good shopping.
Böblingen also has a thermal baths - both outdoor and indoor pool.
The nearest airport is Stuttgart Airport , located 20 miles east of downtown.
