Göppingen miniguide
Göppingen is located in southwestern Germany near the river Fils, and belongs to the state of Baden-Würtemberg.The city has about 58,000 inhabitants (2008) and located at the foot of
Mount Hohenstaufen (684 m).
Göppingen is best known for model railways Märklin factory, which was founded in 1859. Toy manufacturer has opened a Märklin Museum in the city - which is a popular tourist attraction for the whole family. Visitors can see exhibits of both historical and contemporary modelltog at this museum.
The city's oldest building and landmark is the church Oberhof from 1430-century.
Other sights in Göppingen is Duke's Palace from 1550-century town hall from 1785,
The Natural History Museum, Jewish Museum, "Kunsthalle Göppingen" - an exhibition of international contemporary art and Göppingen Zoo - a nice little zoo.
