Samos belongs to the nordegéiske islands. It is located far east in the Aegean Sea, just 1.5 km from the coast of Turkey .The island belongs to Greece .There are approx. 40,000 people at Samos, of which approx. 6,500 in the capital of Samos, which lies on the northeastern part of the island. It hangs together with the neighboring city Vathos (approx. 3,000 population) - and the whole urban complex called often also Vathos. The island's second-largest city - Karlovasi (approx. 6,000 inhabitants) is located in the northwest.
As a tourist destination is Samos an island that has it all: great beaches, picturesque villages, diverse nightlife - and a varied nature.The island's highest point - Vigla - located 1,433 m above sea level
Also when it comes to historical monuments have Samos much to offer. The archaeological core area is located in the southeast. Where we find Pythagoreion, the remains of impressive Greek and Roman oldtidsbyggverk. This area is also "Eupalinos tunnel" - Europe's oldest underground water pipe - which was built on the 530-century ADKr. And that is over 1 km long.
