Portumna is a town located north of Limerick and south of Dublin .It is located in County Galway in Ireland , on the border of Tipperary.The city is located west of the place where the River Shannon becomes Lough. Portumna has around 2,000 inhabitants.
Portumna is famous for Portumna Castle, which was completed in 1617. It was the seat of the Burgofamilien for over 400 years. The castle is situated in a beautiful area with views of Lough Derg, and is open to guests during the summer season. 200 meters from the Castle Portumna Forest Park. The park has several lakes and great hiking trails with lookouts. There is also a monastery from the 1500s. Portumna Marina offers excellent opportunities for boating and fishing tourism. The city also has several tennis courts.
