Florence is a city on both sides of the Arno River, south of Bologna .Florence is the eighth largest city in Tuscany, with its 365,000 inhabitants (2009).
Florence is world famous for its magnificent art collections and beautiful historic buildings. The city is considered one of the world's leading cultural cities and tourist resorts. The famous Museum of Palazzo degli Uffizi has a fantastic collection of Renaissance paintings and sculptures, and is considered by many to be one of the world's most famous art museums. There are also queues to get into. Accademia gallery has paintings by Michelangelo. In the museum of history of Galileo Galilei's instrument had an exhibition, along with one of the man's fingers. Florence has a vibrant life in front of Palazzo Vecchio. In the Pitti Palace is a collection of the Medici family's art collection. In the garden behind the Boboli, it is a nice walking area. Florence is a good starting point for tours in Tuscany.
