Genoa is a city in the region of Liguria, in northern Italy .The city is located between the sea and the Apennines. Genoa is Italy's sixth city with 610,000 inhabitants. Its location at the head of Genovagulfen, as well as good road and rail links has meant that the city has become Italy's largest port city.From here there is an oil pipeline to Germany .
The old town lies around the old harbor and narrow streets and tall buildings. A 15 km long city wall from the 1600s surrounding the city. The old city is San Lorenzo Cathedral which was begun in 958 The cathedral has a Renaissance dome of the artist Galeazzo Alessi. Genoa also has attractions like the Museum of Palazzo Bianco, Doge's residence, the Palazzo Ducale, and the magnificent basilica of Santa Maria di Carignano, which was begun in 1552.It is also Europe's largest aquarium. Genoa have up to three cable cars and elevators, and is a good base for exploring the Italian Riviera and places Portofino and Cinque Terre.
