Prato miniguide
Prato is the capital of the province of the same name and belong to the region of Tuscany. The city is located in the northern region which has a central location in the country and borders on Italy's west coast.The beautiful city of Florence is only about. 20 km southeast of the city, while the west coast and the Mediterranean Sea is to find nearly 80 km from Prato. Bisenzio River flows through the city and its population was measured at nearly 190 000 in 2009.
Prato is known to have been a major textile manufacturer in Italy for almost 900 years and, together with surrounding areas a center for ullvareproduksjonen in the country. The story of production is preserved in the Textile Museum Museum of Textile. In the historic district there are many beautiful palaces such as Palazzo Pretorio from the 1200s. Palazzo degli Alberti was built in the 1100s and today houses an art gallery.
Florence Airport is an international airport located approx. 10 km from Prato.The airport is called both Peretola Airport and Amerigo Vespucci Airport.
