Aomori miniguide
Aomori in Japan is in the far north of the island of Honshu, at Mutsubukta.Approx. 309,000 inhabitants living in the port city which exports fish and timber.
Aomori is famous for Nebutafestivalen, which will be Japan's largest festival. Nebuta held every year from 2 August to 7 August and ends in a parade with lighted lanterns and dancers in costumes. For those who do not visit Aomori during the festival is an exhibition in Nebutanosato with pictures from the festival. Aomoris tourist center, Aspam Center, is a triangular building that has movies. There is also a good vantage point of Aomori. The city has attractions such as the aquarium with dolphin shows and several museums. The ferry Yotei-maru ferry that ran between Hokkaido and Amori before Seikans tunnel was, is today a museum with a beer garden. The surrounding area is beautiful Lake Towada, and Hakkoidafjellene, with good hiking.
Aomori Airport is approx. 12 kilometers southwest of the city of Aomori.
