Sapporo on the island of Hokkaido in Japan , southwest of the island.Sapporo is the island's largest city and has approx. 1, 8 million people in the city and around. 2.3 million with the suburbs.
Sapporo is perhaps best known as host of the Winter Olympics in 1972.Sapporo is a well-known winter sports destination and hosts World Cup races each year. First week of February Sapporo Snow Festival is held. The festival is known for its ice sculptures that attract artists and visitors from around the world. Among the sights we find a clock tower is a symbol of the city from 1878, Ishiya chocolate factory and a beer museum. The city also has a historic village, pioneer village, which shows Japan in the emerging time.Visitors can also visit the botanical gardens or one of the city's museums.
Chitose Airport is 39 kilometers southeast of the center of Sapporo.
