Las Palmas is the largest city in the Canary Islands .It is also administrasjonsby in Gran Canaria, and some metropolitan status of the islands of Santa Cruz on Tenerife .At the last census (2006), there were 377,056 inhabitants in the city, which means that almost half of Gran Canaria's population lives in Las Palmas.The city, which is over 500 years old, has a lot of history to show off. In 1492 Christopher Columbus was on a visit, and therefore there is a special Columbus Museum here (Casa de Colon).
