Los Angeles is the second largest city in the United States , located south of the State of California - the Pacific Coast.The city itself has 3.8 million inhabitants (2008), and the metropolitan area's population is a whopping 17.5 million. Within city limits are several independent cities - including Santa Monica and Beverly Hills.
Los Angeles is known for its film industry in Hollywood, and a major tourist attraction is to visit Universal Studios - where there is a theme park.
The Walk of Fame is a big draw for tourists - it stjernebelagte sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard. Other famous attractions in town include Madame Tussauds Hollywood, Grammy museum, LA County Museum of Art, California Science Center - the aquarium, zoo and botanical garden and the Walt Disney Concert Hall - with its unique architecture.
Also the beaches in Venice Beach and Malibu Beach are popular tourist destinations.
The city's largest airport - Los Angeles International Airport - located 30 miles southwest of downtown.
