Kristinehamn (18,000 inhabitants in 2007) located in central Sweden, and is part of Värmland County.The city is the administrative center of Kristinehamn municipality, and is up north side of Sweden’s largest lake Vänern.
The city has one of the lake’s largest ports, and in summer there is ferry traffic to some of the islands – including Vålön, where there are beautiful sandy beaches.
A popular attraction is to take a boat ride with the unique vessel “Christine af Bro,” which is the type Bojer, and is used for tourist traffic on Lake Vänern.
