Holmestrand is located in southeastern Norway, specifically in Vestfold County on the Oslo Fjord.The city has about 10,000 inhabitants (2010), located 70 km south of Oslo – Norway’s capital.

The museum also has its own shipping department.
Other attractions include aluminum Holmestrand Museum (focusing on product history and development), and “Duun House” – the former home of author Olaf Duun (1876 to 1939) was one of the greatest poets.The house is now a museum, and outside is a memorial park.
