The small town Stathelle is Bamble – Telemark County – approx. 160 km southwest of Oslo. Stathelle has about 8,000 inhabitants (2008), and is where Langesundsfjord, Frierfjorden and Eidangerfjord meet – at the innermost part of Langesund Peninsula.

Brevik Bridge (Highway 354) and Grenland Bridge (E18) is located directly Stathelle.

The historic center of Stathelle is a tourist attraction, with its narrow streets and wooden houses from the 1830s. It is also good shopping in the center with a variety of shops, and in the western end of Brevik bridge is “Brotorvet Shopping Centre” – with a total of 43 shops / restaurants.

Otherwise Stathelle a favorite place for outdoor activities like boating and fishing, and there is good swimming in summer.

In Bamble is Olav’s Church, which is worth a visit. Here you can see the ruins of an old medieval church from 1150, and a small side chapel – Mary’s Chapel – is open to the public all year round.

The neighboring town Langesund is the tip of the peninsula Langesund – 6.6 km southeast of Stathelle.Here you can visit Bamble Coastal Museum (in a notched log building from the 1700s) – which documents the district’s maritime history in fishing, shipbuilding and shipping. The museum also has an exhibition of paintings and crafts.
