If you go, you can enjoy people watching in the city and looking at the old architecture around you. Sat adjacent to the square, you will find St Mary’s Basilica, which is a Gothic church. It is often visited to see the sight because it is one of Poland’s example of Gothic architecture.

If you enjoy old architecture, you should also visit the Wawel castle. There is parking and street parking available if you do plan to drive there. It is a 20-minute drive as it is 15 km, or 9 miles away from the airport. The castle is made up of 2 structures, one is the castle and the other, a cathedral. If you prefer to visit the more natural side of Krakow, go to Planty Park. 16 km, or 9 miles, away from the main airport, it should take around 25 minutes to get there. It is one of the biggest parks in the city of Krakow. It is 4 km long and has a huge area of over 20,000 square meters. If you do visit, you’ll find that there are over 29 smaller garden areas inside with beautiful fountains to see.

Explore with your rental car

There are lots of places you can go to visit from the main airport in Krakow. For example, you can travel to Ojcowski National Park. It is located 17 km, or 10 miles, away from the airport. It should take you around 15 minutes by rental car. It has an area of roughly 20km squared. It is the smallest national park in Poland, but it is very popular to go to and enjoy the nature side of Krakow.

If you would prefer to travel and enjoy a more artsy side of Krakow, head to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow, or MOCAK. It is located 24 km, or 15 miles, away from the main airport. It should take you roughly 20 minutes to travel there. When you visit, you can see the contemporary art gallery from the last two decades in Krakow. You will also find a cafe and tourist shop if you wish to visit there too.

If you would like to visit the city for a fun family holiday, you can visit the Water Park in Krakow SA. It is 17 km, or 10 miles, away from the airport. It should take you roughly 20 minutes to get there. It is a fun water park for tourists to enjoy. You can also buy tickets online.

Airport

There are 12 different airports in Poland. But in Krakow, there is one airport called John Paul II Kraków-Balice. It is located in the west of Krakow, and 11 km, or 6 miles, from the city centre. If you’re looking to rent a car on your holiday, you’ll find that there are car rental options at this airport. Companies including Avis, Budget and Sixt can be found at the airport.

To get to the city centre, there are 4 different roads to get there. From the airport, you can travel to a nearby viewpoint spot called Piłsudski’s Mound. It will take 10 minutes to drive there, as it is 5 km, or 3 miles, in distance from the airport. It is an artificial mound built in Wolski Forest. It’s also been called the Independence Mound.

16 minutes from the airport, you’ll find the Krakow Zoo. It is located 8 km, or 4 miles away from the airport. It is in the Wolski forest, and it has become very popular for many tourists over the years. If you’re interested in visiting on your trip, you can buy tickets online.

Traffic

In Krakow, the speed limit in built up areas is 50 km per hour between the hours of 5 am and 11 pm. Between 11 pm and 5 am, it is 60 km per hour. The speed limit on motorways is 140 km per hour. Finding a car parking space can be really tricky in Krakow.
