Excess

All offers include the necessary insurance cover (Liability Insurance, Vehicle Theft Waiver and Collision Damage Waiver). An excess may however be levied. For example, an excess involves that you, who has rented the car, are liable for first portion of expenses (up to a certain amount, generally debited as a deposit on arrival) in the event that the car has been stolen or involved in a collision. The car rental agency covers the remaining costs.

Full insurance

We offer full insurance which entails that you are not liable for an excess if, for example, the car has been stolen or involved in a collision. Often there is a small price differential between normal cover and full insurance, so we recommend the comprehensive package.

In order to opt for the full insurance package, select “Inclusive No Excess” in STEP 2. If you cannot find an offer under “Inclusive No Excess”, you still have the option of booking full insurance in STEP 3. This insurance cover is provided by a third party (Mondial Assistance).

Different types of insurance

Liability Insurance – Each country sets a minimum level of insurance cover necessary to drive a car. This covers the lessee’s liability for possible damage to other individuals and / or their property. Generally, the insurance cover is limited to €1 000 000 and one must often pay an excess, up to a certain amount. This amount may be seen when you click “Rental terms” STEP 2 under “Cover / insurance”.

Vehicle Theft Waiver – This reduces or excludes any liability by the lessee in the event that the car is stolen. Sometimes an excess may even be levied here. This amount may be seen when you click “Rental terms” STEP 2 under “Cover / insurance”.

Collision damage waiver – This reduces or excludes your financial liability in the event that the car is involved in a collision. The collision damage waiver is limited to a certain amount and often excludes the car’s windows, tyres and towing. An excess is often required and this amount may be seen when you click “Rental terms” STEP 2 under “Cover / insurance”.
