Apeldoorn is best known as a summer residence for the country’s royal family. Palais Het Loo is here. This symmetrical palace was built in 1684-1686 by King William III and Mary II of England .The palace was the residence of the house of Orange-Nassau until Queen Wilhelmina died in 1962. Since 1984 there has been a museum. The building in baroque style designed by Jacob Roman and Johan van Swieten, while the garden was designed by Claude Desgotz. Here, visitors can wander around the rooms, garden and park. There is also a zoo with monkeys in Apeldoorn.
