Molde is situated on the Romsdal Peninsula at Molde river’s outlet in Molde Fjord (which is part of the Romsdal Fjord). The city has about 24,800 inhabitants (2010), and is located in More og Romsdal county on the west coast.
Molde is an important commercial center for the region, and in Storgata – the city’s main street – are a number of shops.

Molde has a rich cultural life, and some of the most visited tourist attractions include Molde Town Hall from 1966, Arts Center (with an exhibition of paintings made by both regional and national artists), Molde Cathedral from 1957 and Romsdal Museum (several departments) – one of the largest regional museums in Norway. The museum includes scroll. Open-Air Museum at Reknes in Molde (with buildings from the 1600s to 1900’s), as well as park and outdoor stage.
Fisheries museum is also a tourist attraction. To get there one must take the ferry from Molde, and the journey takes only 10 minutes.
One of the most famous sights in Molde is “Molde Panorama” – mountain range can be seen on the south side of the Romsdal Fjord. From the Varden viewpoint has beautiful views of snowcapped peaks 222 partially, most of which are over 1000 meters high.
The city’s airport – Molde Airport – located 6 miles northeast of downtown.
