Mosjøen is a city in Nordland county, which lies deep in Vefsnfjorden in Vefsn municipality in Norway .The city has about 10,000 inhabitants (2010), and is part of the region and landscape Helgeland. Mosjoen received city status in 1875 and is today an important commercial center and transportation hub for the region.

Rivers Skjerva and Vefsna runs through the city, and Mosjoen is also at the foot of Øyfjell (818 m). The mountain is often used by tourists and locals for walking, and there are trails up to the cairn on top.

One of the greatest sights in Mosjoen the picturesque Sjøgata in the center, with its wooden buildings from the 1800s. Other tourist attractions are Dolstad church from 1735, Helgeland Museum of Jacobsen wharf in Sjøgata (a local history museum with permanent and changing theme) and Vefsn Bygdesamling on Dolstad – a courtyard surrounded by old farm buildings where the oldest are 300 years old and the city park with a pavilion.

Mosjoen otherwise have a rich cultural life, especially in music and crafts.

England Railway and E6 passes Mosjoen, and the city’s airport – Mosjoen Airport – Located 5 miles south of downtown. From here there are regular flights to such Tromsø and Trondheim.
