Porsgrunn is a city located in southeastern Norway, and belongs to the county of Telemark.The former municipalities Brevik and Eidanger hear today to Porsgrunn and Skien kommune border runs near the center of Porsgrunn.

Porsgrunn the Municipal Court in 1807, and the center has nearly 13,000 inhabitants (2010). The city lies at the mouth of the river Telemark and Porsgrunn River divides the city into two parts – east and west. Porsgrunn is an important industrial city, and has a diverse cultural life.

The largest and most famous tourist taken action in the city is Porsgrunn Porcelain Factory – the former producer of porcelain, which was founded in 1885. Today there is a factory outlet in the building – as well as a museum, where among other things can see the historic and unique porcelain objects.

The village has good shopping facilities with pedestrian streets, cafes / restaurants and nightlife. In addition, the city has the large shopping center “Downtown” with over 70 stores.

Other city sights include Maritime Museum – with houses and shops from 1700 – 1800’s, the city museum – which consists of the old vicarage from 1784, a beautiful garden with Customs house from 1661 (the city’s oldest house), East Porsgrunn church from 1760 and West Porsgrunn church from 1758.

Porsgrunn has varied coastline with many bathing places, while a short distance from both the forest and mountains.
