The northern Norwegian town of Svolvaer is Vågan municipality in Nordland county in Norway , has 4,200 inhabitants (2009).Svolvaer is located on the south side of Austvågøya in the Lofoten Islands and the island is connected to the mainland via bridges.
Svolvaer Lofoten’s largest fishing villages and most important commercial center in the region. The city’s port has daily arrivals of Coastal Voyage ( Bergen – Kirkenes ), and the ferry to Bodø and Hamarøy.
The city landmark is “Svolvaer Goat” – a 40 meter high cliff with two “goat horn” on top. This is located on the hillside above the city center and also North-Norway’s most famous rock climbing.
