Playa del Carmen is a city on the east coast of Mexico .Playa del Carmen is the state of Quintana Roos’ third largest city with 100,000 inhabitants (2005). Playa del Carmen is about. 70 kilometers south of Cancun and 20 kilometers west of Cozumel on the Yucatan Peninsula. From here the ferry to the island of Cozumel.

Playa del Carmen is a popular tourist destination, famous for its suitable diving conditions. The town was originally a small fishing village, but today is Playa del Carmen center in Riviera Maya, which stretches from Cancun to the Sian Ka’an. The city is also the stop for several cruise ships that stop just south of the city, at Calica. The “ecological theme park” of Xcaret and Xel-Ha is located near Playa del Carmen, and are popular destinations for excursions. In Xel-Ha, visitors can swim with dolphins, snorkel, scuba dive and see the sea turtles. An hour south of Playa, Tulum is a Mayan archaeological findings with beautiful views.
