We rented a car at Franfurt Airport through Europcar. The process of getting the car was quick and easy. The price was much lower than booking directly through Europcar.

The rates are similar to that of other websites, however we prefer renting on this website as we can choose which company to hire from ourselves.

Bellinzona is a small town with 18,000 inhabitants, situated in the southeastern part of Switzerland – near the Italian border. It is the capital of the canton of Ticino, and the dominant language is Italian.

The city is called both “the key to the Alps” and “the key to Italy” because of its geographical location. Far the most visited attractions of Bellinzona, the three forts that surround the city: Castel Grande, Montebello and Sasso Corbaro. They are regarded as some of the finest examples of fortified architecture from the Middle Ages in the Alpine region. The three castles, all of which are very well preserved – and which today serves as museums, has been on UNESCO’s World Heritage list since 2000.

There is otherwise a number of other museums in Bellinzona – in addition to several interesting art galleries and a couple of theaters. Moreover, it is exciting, old architecture in the center of town – including two medieval churches.

One attraction of a different character is the lively market in the city’s central square, which is open every Saturday morning.

There is no airport in Bellinzona. The closest – Lugano Airport (in the neighboring town of Lugano, 30 km south of Bellinzona) – is a regional airport with regular services including to Geneva .
