The largest tourist attraction in St. Gallen is the Roman Catholic cathedral “Stiftskirche St. Gallen” from 1755. In the period 1766 – 1805 was a church convent church of St. Gallen monastery. The church is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Other city sights include Textile Museum, Historical and Ethnographic Museum, the Art Museum and The Natural History Museum.

The city has its own airport – St. Gallen-Altenrheim Airport – with limited flights. Nearest international airport is Zurich Airport , located 89 km west of St. Gallen.
