Gyor is located in the northwestern part of Hungary, and is the main town in the district of Gyor-Moson-Sopron.The city has 130,000 inhabitants (2009), and is often called the “river city” – because it is situated where the rivers Raba, Rabac and the Danube meet. Gyor is located near the border with the countries Slovakia and Austria .
The city is best known for its beautiful baroque buildings, and has several historic churches. Gyor has a rich cultural life with theater, museums and art exhibitions as well as several annual festivals.
