Porec is located 45 kilometers northwest of the town of Pula on the Adriatic coast.It is located on the west coast of Istria. Porec has approx. 12,000 inhabitants, while the suburban population is 18,000.

Porec has been welcoming tourists from 1845. The city’s Basilica was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997. It is one of Europe’s best preserved examples of early Christian architecture. The first basilica is the 400-century and was dedicated to St. Maurus of Parentium. Today’s buildings are from the 600-century bishop Euphrasius government. All mosaic originates from this time and is regarded as one of the finest examples of Byzantine art. The 37 kilometer long coastline of the river Mirna and the Lim valley draws visitors. To the south is the tourist centers such as the Blue Lagoon, Plava Laguna, the green lagoon, Zelena Laguna, and Bijela Uvala.   The city has several sports venues.
