Crete is the largest island in Greece – and the 5th largest in the Mediterranean Sea.It has an area of ??approx. 8,300 km2 – and is 260 km long and 60 km wide. Other Minoan ruins are found bl.ai Phaistos and Agia Triada (the south), Malia (the northeast) – and Gournia and Zakros (to the east).

Crete also has many interesting natural sites to offer. In addition to the mountains and the many wonderful beaches, the Samaria Gorge (which is part of the Samaria National Park) south of Chania, a very popular

destination. The gorge consists of a 17 km long gorge with a drop of 1200 meters. Mention must also be the fascinating caves at Matala beach right in the south.
