Parga is a Greek medieval town situated on the west coast of the mainland, at the Ionian sea. The city, which has about 2500 inhabitants, situated like an amphitheater around the picturesque harbor – with mountains in the background. In the area behind the port is the cozy alleys with bars, restaurants and shops.
The city has beautiful beaches – where Vatos is the best known – within walking distance of downtown. Parga was founded in the 1300s, and on a hill above the town lies the old Venetian castle – which is a major tourist attraction. The castle has several interesting architectural details, and there is both a souvenir shop and a cafe here.
Many holidaymakers in Parga take it nice “tourist train” which gives visitors a two-hour long tour of the city.
