Kos Island International Airport “Hippocrates” (KGS) is a small airport located 26 km west of the town of Kos. Olympic Airways shuttle bus connects with the departures and provide transportation between the airport and the city of Kos. Local buses KTEL go to the cities of Kos, Kardhamena, Kefalos and Seagulls, and stops just outside the airport. In 2007 there were about 170 000 passengers visited Kos Airport. It was opened in 1964 and in 1997 built a new arrival hall. It is first and foremost charter traffic to Kos in summer, and around 30 airlines flying here. Olympic Airlines and Aegean Airlines serving the airport year-round.

Kos Airport has a duty free shop, a cafe that sells basic foods in addition to drinking, a police and a health center. There are no hotels at the airport, the closest is Seagull’s Bay Hotel 5 miles away.
