Zrenjanin is located in Serbia’s northern province, Vojvodina – and has approx.80,000 inhabitants. It is the largest city in the Serbian part of the historical Banat region – which includes areas in Romania and Hungary .Begej river runs through Zrenjanin, famous for its many beautiful bridges.
Businesses in Zrenjanin has recently been experiencing a rapid development – and in 2007 the city was named the “Future City” by a national, Serbian jury. The following year ranked World Bank Zrenjanin as the premier business city in Serbia.
Among the attractions of the city, the following are mentioned: the National Theatre Tosa Jovanovic (built in 1839), the old city hall from 1820 (rebuilt in 1888), Zenranjins History Museum (which also has a substantial historical archive) and the beautiful City gradska basta. Several of the finest buildings in the town is concentrated around the main square Trg Slobode (“Freedom Square”).
A few miles south of Zrenjanin is the charming village Ecka, where there is a popular fish farm. Nearby we also Nature Reserve Stari Begej.
