Celje is centrally located in the eastern part of Slovenia .N Savinja River flows through the city and the capital Ljubljana is about. 60 km southwest of Celje.In 2006, the population of just under 40 000, making Celje to the third largest city in Slovenia. Cylie name was first mentioned in sources in the 1100s, but there has been a city here during both the Celts and Romans.
Celje has a long history and there are still many old buildings here. On a hill just above the old town sits the historic castle Celje Old Castle, Ducal Court was first mentioned in 1323 and is building the site counts held in the Middle Ages. Museums Celje Regional Museum and the Museum of Modern History looks at the city’s heritage and history. In the area around Celje, there are several spas and health farms that take advantage of the surrounding hot springs.
